Tips for Greening Your Transportation
Bike Racks Ask your favorite business or company to install them.
Plan your errands wisely by keeping a list until you have 10 things to do at once Find that commercial strip where you can do multiple errands at one time and within walking distance of each other.  (Keep the list in your car or by the door.) Give preference to an area that also has a farmers market.  Don't forget to reward yourself on that trip with something special for being green :)  If you're about to get in the car to do one single errand, tell yourself that you can use that time more wisely. Better yet, carpool with a friend and make a fun afternoon of it together.
Organize a bike ride or walk with your neigbhors, co-workers or community group. Give them the experience of how beautiful local trails are, and remind them that they could commute locally by riding bike.  Then, plan to step up the experience in a month with a ride along a local rail-trail  ("Find a Trail").
Plan your biking routes for weekend exploring  At maps.google.com/biking, users can enter their starting point and destination just as with previous map tools, and will be presented with routes, itineraries and estimated travel times — and to account for all the variation in how fast different people pedal, the step-by-step biking directions factor in trip length, changes in elevation and even fatigue probability.
